Teaching Families to Dance and Sing Together—CDSS Family Weeks

Family Weeks, sponsored by the Country Dance and Song Society, a traditional dance and music organization, are a wonderful combination of education and enjoyment. Daytime classes for the very young, grade schoolers, young teens, older teens and adults improve your dance and music skills, while the evening program gathers the entire community together to dance, sing and enjoy other activities. Contras, squares, English country dance, songs, music jams, ritual dances, crafts, swimming and hanging out with friends old and new is our core program, with slight variations at each week. And each week has its own traditions, whether the program is one of our longest-running (Pinewoods, 1975) to our almost-newest (Timber Ridge, 1990), to the very newest (Ogontz, 1999). Each program also reflects the particular beauty of its location: Ogontz in the rugged White Mountains of NH; Timber Ridge on the gentle slopes of West Virginia, bounded by the beautiful Cacapon River; and Pinewoods, a land of tall pine trees, bordered by two fine ponds in eastern MA. At each week, the music, laughter, and sense of a family vacation well spent, embrace the participants and rises toward the sun and stars every day. Join us for a memorable time!
